A Really Clever Title For This Post Goes Here

And now, after three blog posts in the last couple of hours (sorry to swamp your list, dear followers!), we get to what I did today.  Today the boiler broke so anyone who was brave enough took a cold shower.  Lovely.  Class today was pretty awesome though.  I managed to stay awake through both of them even though I was exhausted.  I was so proud of myself.  :D

After lunch we all gathered and headed off to take a tour of the local library.  We all got library cards!  I don't think I can find my way back though so I probably won't be using it much.  Next we went to another library, this time the British library!  I got to see really cool things like original scores for Mendelssohn's wedding march, Franz Schubert, Henry Purcell, Handel's Messiah, Mozart.  I saw Beethoven's tuning fork and Jane Austen's writing desk.  I saw John Milton's commonplace book, notes from da Vinci, illuminated manuscripts from all over the world including China and Japan, the Gutenberg Bible, the Beatles' original lyrics to stuff like "Yesterday" and the Magna Carta.  Awesome.
Pigeon just chillin' on the Tube

Dry cleaning prices in London.  Erin, show VJ!

I felt a little silly at both the British Library and Westminster Abbey because we went around with little worksheets to do.  Welcome to fourth grade.  :)  The worksheets aren't bad or anything.  It just feels a little strange.

Afterwards I ended up being the only person to go home with the Masons, we take the Circle line, and you get the work of art a few posts back.  And that was today.

Ode to the Circle Line

(Time for a story.  I was going back from the British Library with just my professors and their families.  No other students.  That was interesting.  Anyways, we were riding the Circle line on the Tube and there was some considerable debate about where to get off, if we had to transfer, and whatnot.  When Dr N asked me if I was blogging I said yes and he said I should blog about the Circle line.  And so I did.  I promise a real blog post is coming soon.  Probably.  And the Circle line isn't really that bad.  I'm exaggerating for poetic purposes  Another disclaimer.  I know it's awful.  I also know it doesn't follow the proper format of an ode.  I wasn't really writing it with the intentions of being the next Keats.)

Ode To The Circle Line
The Circle Line, the Circle line
Why would you take the circle line?
It goes around and around
But actually it doesn't.
You have to transfer.
Apparently it doesn't really mean a circle.

The Circle line is yellow
So that means it's not the Center
District, Piccadilly, or Northern line
At least with those you know where you're going.
Unless you're me.
Then you're lost.
But really.
All of those are a lot faster.
The circle line takes so long
Most men need to shave when they get off
Why is it so slow?

On most lines
You can figure out where to get off easily
Take the train east or west
You'll get where you're going.
But with the circle line!
Go on it and you might end up
On some other line you didn't want.
You might end up on District
Or Hammersmith.
And then you'll be really lost.

Circle line tends to be late
I know because I found a website that said so.
It's got a lot of popular stops on it
So everyone wants to crowd in.
There is no personal space.

The circle line is so awful
That I won't even make this poem rhyme.
The end.
